| Image Mapping in MS FrontPage |
|
If you use Microsoft Frontpage: Do not be ashamed!! Some see it as being lazy, but I personally feel its a great learning tool for coding. If you ever find yourself with no home internet connection and editing at University from your server, you've got to remember it! Anyways, with this tutorial I'm going to show you how you can use the program to create image-map layouts. 1) Make sure your picture tool is displayed. Go to: View >>> Toolbars >>> Pictures 2) Click on the image that you wish to image map. As you can see in the image below, I have already started the process of image-mapping on this layout from the rectangles around the text, which I have linked to other webpage's on Tired Of Being Sorry. To start image mapping, select the rectangular hotspot tool from the picture toolbar: 3) Now, draw around the text that you wish to add an image-map. For example, in the image below, I have drawn around the text 'TAG'. Don't worry, if your rectangle is too big or too small, you can edit it later on. 4) Once you have drawn around your selected text/image, a box titled 'Insert Hyperlink' will appear on your screen. Please make sure that you are in the correct folder for the item you wish to link too. Once you have you done this, scroll down until you find the find the file you require. Click on it, until it appears in the 'Address:' box. hen click 'OK'. If you just want to connect to another website, just type or copy and paste the link into the 'Address:' box and click 'OK'. 5) Now, if your wish to resize the rectangle around your selected hotspot, just use the small dots as a guide until you get it to the correct size you require. And that's it! Just repeat the process on the image you have selected until you have made all the image hotspots you require.
